The careers portfolio of the LSS endeavours to create an interactive and informative platform between students and the broader legal community. We hope to inspire students to pursue their legal passions, consider a wide span of domestic and international legal career opportunities and develop skills required to achieve their career goals. Events to Come in 2019
ANU Law Careers Fair hosted with ANU Careers:
12 – 2pm, 13 March, Athenaeum, ANU School of Music
The annual fair is an excellent opportunity for students to connect with firms looking to hire law graduates. It is open to students of all years, whether you are doing some initial research into available career opportunities or looking for clerkship or graduate positions.
Attorney General’s Department Careers Guide
The Guide will be available in hardcopy at the ANU Law Careers Fair and published online on 13 March. It includes information on working in numerous sub-industries of law and contributions from paralegals and solicitors working in such fields.
Allens Linklaters Networking Workshop
12:30- 1:30pm, 14 March 12, Venue TBC
Solicitors and staff from Allens will be presenting their advice on how to network and the importance of networking when applying for legal roles.
Clerkship Information Evening
7 May, John Curtain School of Medicine
This is a wonderful event to learn all you need to about Clerkships, the application process and meet contacts from a wide variety of firms. The Clerkship Evening is open to pen-ultimate and final year students.
Ashurst LLP Clerkship Guide
The Guide will available in hardcopy at the Clerkship Information Evening and published online on 7 May. It includes firm material on their clerkship processes, contributions from previous clerks and general applications tips and tricks.
MinterEllison CV and Cover Letter Workshop
12- 1pm, 14 May, Venue TBC
Staff from MinterEllison will be presenting their tips and tricks and what they look for in a stellar CVs and Resumes
MinterEllison Interview Skills Workshop
12-1pm, 21 May, Venue TBC
Staff from MinterEllison will be presenting their methods to success when it comes to preparing for interviews and ensuring that you ace them.
Social Justice/ Careers Evening
TBC
This evening will be run by a panel of legal professionals working outside of corporate law and provides an opportunity for students to learn more about a variety of legal careers.
