Do you want to develop a deeper understanding of the law, putting your legal knowledge into practice? Give back to the ACT community? Improve your skills and broaden your experience? LSS Student Outreach is a program designed to get ANU law students out and working in legal roles with organisations across Canberra. Volunteer placements provide a fantastic opportunity to see the law in practice.
Placements
LSS Student Outreach is constantly looking for partner organisations in the ACT, and will post opportunities as they arise.
What will I be doing?
Placements will mainly be with community legal providers. Tasks may include legal letter writing, research, client interview or proof reading and administration – it entirely depends on the organisation!
How long will I be there?
Placements may range from a week, to several months, depending on the needs of the organisation. Longer placements are typically available over summer and winter break periods, however shorter placements during semester are possible.
Training
LSS Student Outreach will look to provide training workshops in collaboration with the ANU Legal Workshop and some external partners. These workshops are designed to up-skill volunteers, taking the burden off hosting organisations, whilst ensuring that students feel capable and confident in their roles.
When and where will training occur?
Details regarding venue, content and times will be organised once a sufficient number of students have been accepted into roles.
